The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, has charged the newly sworn-in members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) to be patriotic, humble and good citizens of Nigeria as enshrined in the motto of NYSC.
Governor AbdulRazaq stated this during the swearing-in ceremony of the Batch ‘B’, Stream II Youth Corps members, at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp at the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, where the Chief Judge of Kwara State, who was represented by Honourable Justice Yusuf Adebayo Dikko administered the “NYSC Oath of Allegiance” to the corps members.
The Governor, who was represented by the Kwara State Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, welcomed the corps members to the State of Harmony and urged them to participate in camp activities such as physical training, paramilitary drills, citizenship and leadership training, among others.He advised them to exhibit the qualities of service and humility, while being worthy ambassadors of their families.
The Governor also advised the corps members to possess the qualities of leaders, and make honesty and handwork their watchwords.”I want you to justify the confidence reposed in you as leaders of this great nation by making patriotism, discipline, honesty and hard work your watchwords,” Governor AbdulRazaq noted.
The Chairman, Kwara State NYSC Governing Board, and the Commissioner for Youth Development represented by the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply, Mrs Okanla Kuburat Atinuke, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his unwavering support to the NYSC scheme in Kwara State and admonished the corps members to offer selfless service all through the year by contributing significantly to the development of their host communities.
Speaking further, she commended the camp officials for their hard work and selfless sacrifice at ensuring the safety of the Corps members, while also advising them to serve diligently and selflessly.
Earlier in his address, the State Coordinator for the NYSC, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON ,for his proactive and timely intervention for the NYSC by providing the temporary camp while construction and development commences at the permanent orientation camp at Yikpata.
He appreciated the corps members for their eagerness to go through the mandatory youths service year, stating that various activities had been lined up for their entertainment and education, while also admonishing them to strictly comply with all the rules required.
Mr. Onifade stated that a total number of 1300 Corps members comprising 625 males and 675 females, were sworn-in at the Yikpata camp.

Adebayo Muhammed Kamaldeen, Senior Special Assistant Youth Engagement Kwara North, Hon. Peter Tsado, representative of the Director General of NYSC Mrs Tosin Ikupolati, the representative of the State Commander Man ‘O’ War DSC Ali Yusuf, the representative of the Controller Correction Service CSC Abubakar Yunusa, representative of the Commandant Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) DSC Rasheed Abeeb, Director Youth, Ministry of Youth Development, Alh. Abdulsalam Akeem, among others.
