The Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration to building an inclusive and empowered youth population in Kwara State.
He made this known while speaking at the Kwara Youth Congress (KYC) International Summit held on Wednesday at the NUJ Press Centre, Ilorin, with the theme “The Power of Youth: Building a Resilient Kwara through Leadership and Collaboration.”
Amb. Ndanusa, who was one of the panelists during the session on Youth Inclusive Governance, highlighted several life-transforming initiatives of the present administration, aimed at making young people self-reliant, creative, and globally competitive.
“Take for example the Sugar Film Factory established for our youths to thrive in the world of entertainment, the Innovation Hub that nurtures tech-driven ideas, the Garment Factory empowering young fashion entrepreneurs, and the International Conference Centre that positions Kwara as a hub for global engagement,” the Commissioner said.
“All these initiatives are not just projects; they are platforms to shape a new generation of productive and resilient Kwarans. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has proven that youth development is not a slogan but a deliberate policy direction,” he added.
During the event, an Award of Excellence titled “Timeless Achievement”was presented to His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, in recognition of his visionary leadership and remarkable contributions to the growth and development of Kwara State, which the Commissioner received on behalf of the Governor.
While appreciating the organisers for the honour, Amb. Ndanusa described the recognition as a reflection of the positive impact of the Governor’s policies.“This award is more than an award,it is a feedback from the youth showing acknowledgment that the Governor’s efforts are being felt across the State. His Excellency will indeed appreciate this gesture, and it will inspire him to do even more for our young people,” he remarked.
In her goodwill message, the Chairman, House Committee on Youth Development, Hon. Rukayat Shittu, commended the present administration for its giant strides in youth empowerment, innovation, and leadership inclusion, noting that Kwara has become a model for youth engagement across Nigeria.
Similarly, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Small Holder Farmers Association, Hon. Suleiman Abdullahi, praised the government’s continued support for young farmers and urged youths to take agriculture seriously as a means of reshaping the State’s future economy.
The summit featured a panel discussion on “Expanding Opportunities for Kwara Youths,” presentation of medal awards to panelists, and networking sessions among youth leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers.
